As a writer who understands the various sides of the firm, I often cringe when I go to a fellow author's website, and the very first picture of these I visit is a selfie. Not to mention, a lot of individuals use images that they downloaded in their family vacations or when they were just lounging around the house.Selfies may be killing your company. One, your photos, including selfies, and your business should not mix. When folks go to your site or pages, they expect to find exactly what your brand is all about. Prospects can easily be turned off if the initial six images or posts that hit them are selfies and personal business.Recently, a colleague and decent friend of mine did a book signing here in Philadelphia for Black History Month ultimate selfie tips. I hunted out five authors, and when I asked them all to send me a photo for the flyer I would be producing, she and I were the only two that had professional shots.Not everyone can manage a photographer, but as writers and entrepreneurs, we must cut back and sacrifice for things that matter. I've heard a lot being in the literary world, and one thing Iknow is that people will only take you seriously when you take yourself seriously. So, how do you keep it professional?
1) Locate a student photographer who would be willing to take photographs of you in exchange for a written copy on their site. Creatives love to barter with one another, and this helps build your system. This doesn't have to be a full two-hour photo shoot.
2) Keep those selfies to yourself. It is a wonder to me why they're called selfies. Nevertheless, everybody sees them (pun intended). Showing body parts within a selfie could brand you as somebody who is being careless about their presentation. Do not allow your need to show each picture you choose to overwhelm the talent and ability that you have.
3) Make sure everything on your social media pages speaks to your capacity and not just to your private life. I understand that you could maintain a season where you have too much on your plate to manage just two pages - a private one and one for your industry. Just be sure there are consistency and nothing vulgar or offensive which can steer people away before they even get to understand you.
4) Check out the web page of a couple of people who you see as a guru or trailblazer in your business. Have a peek at the things they post in their webpages, to not copy, but to see how they are branding themselves professionally. This could help you realize why it is important to keep a business mindset when posting, even on a day away.Because this creation is over-saturated with selfies, I recommend entrepreneurs and writers who are building a career off of their composing to stay away from them when it comes to your small business.
